Walls and Windows
Hirose House: 1 7th c., Enzan City, Yamanashi Pref., presently
in the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum in Kawasaki City. In early minka,
many of the hiroma with an irori hearth as the center of the living area
are unfloored doma. The room is enclosed by earthen walls and is a very
